Rachael Finch has shared with her followers that she has removed her breast implants after one of them ruptured last week following years of pain and seeing numerous specialists to find out the cause.
The 32-year-old told her story in a very candid Instagram post, writing, "Most of you might immediately think, ‘I didn’t think you had implants’. At 17yrs I made the decision to have them put in and they have been apart of me for pretty much all my adult life. I am thankful that I was lucky enough to still breastfeed both my babies."
She explained that two years ago she woke up and noticed one of her breasts was different to the other so she immediately went in for an MRI, "The doctor told me I had a capsular contracture in my left breast - meaning the skin the body creates around the implant to protect itself has tightened. I was told it was fine, common and nothing needed to be done urgently.
"I started getting pain in my left breast which became bad and other symptoms (which I didn’t associate my implants with at the time) so decided to see other specialists to get more opinions.
"I’ve been in and out of clinics for months, until last week I was told my left implant was in fact ruptured - meaning there’s a hole with its contents leaking out. These results were actually on the original MRI I had 2 years ago but were read wrong to me."
She continued, "I’m excited and I’m also shaking with fear. Because the implant has been ruptured for so long we won’t know until after the operation just how much damage has been done. I will wake up a few hours from now in a world of pain, with small/no boobies, unable to hold my children, but a weight off my chest like no other. I’ll keep you updated with my full recovery journey, but know that I wanted to be as open and honest with you as possible. Please, if you ever feel something is not right with your body, listen to your instinct and don’t stop searching."
A few hours later she shared an update, revealing the surgery was a "huge success", adding, "I actually feel like I can breathe deeper!"
The model explained the doctor had warned her before the surgery there was a chance the other implant was also ruptured, but it wasn't.
Rachael also noted her husband Michael Miziner "is going way above and beyond" in taking care of her.
Her followers were quick to share their well-wishes with the model with Megan Gale writing, "Wishing you a speedy recovery lovely. Lots of love."
"Sending you all the love," Ricki-Lee Coulter added, while Sarah Davidson wrote, "Oh Rach you are so wonderful, people will value your openness so much, sending so much love."
