She’s given them some time to settle in with the new arrival, and the Queen has been seen making the trip to visit Kate Middleton and Prince William following the birth of baby Louis last week.

Rather than bother with the annoyance of travel time, Her Majesty instead opted to call for her personal helicopter to make the trip from her Sandringham home in Norfolk to Wills and Kate’s Kensington Palace digs.

After a quick 40 minute flight, the 92-year-old was seen disembarking from the chopper, rugged up against the chill in a knee length tartan skirt, navy puffer vest and trademark headscarf.

She didn’t arrive empty handed either, clutching a little posy of flowers – presumably for new mum Kate.

The Sun reports Prince Charles didn’t quite make the shortlist for the chopper, instead driving to Kensington Palace and meeting with his mum there.

While the Queen was one of the first people William phoned with news of baby Louis’ arrival, this is the first time she has met her sixth grandchild.

Instead, the Queen been staying at Windsor Castle with her 96-year-old husband, Prince Philip, who last month underwent hip surgery.

Obviously keen to make the trip to visit baby Louis, her Majesty also had another important reason to visit the Cambridge’s today, with Princess Charlotte celebrating her third birthday.
