Macca's is releasing a spicy Quarter Pounder, for those cold winter nights

The mercury is dropping, the breath is misting and my hands are freezing - it’s winter, and Aussies everywhere are shivering in their boots.

As it turns out we should be shaking in our boots and peeling off our layers, because from today, Macca’s has released a new variant on the Quarter Pounder and word is, it is red hot and smoking.

The Quarter Pounder Chilli is available exclusively on Uber Eats and mymacca’s app, so you barely have to leave the warmth of your couch to give it a go.

It’s a spicy alternative however, so any lily-livered tastebuds should steer clear.

Fans of the fast food giant are sure to be sceptical of any alteration to a well-loved staple but in this weather, we’ll try anything to warm up.

The burger promises to include all the ingredients of a classic Quarter Pounder, with a brand new sauce.

Branded only ‘spicy sauce’, it promises to deliver an ‘extra kick’ to the burger, so this is one for brave tastebuds only.

The new twist comes after the international chain announced it was subtly changing its recipes for the first time in years, and sent customers wild with $1 Big Macs just last months.

With the burger just becoming available, the jury is still out on the variation, but we’re betting some customers will see it as a great excuse to indulge in some Macca’s on this chilly Wednesday.
