Pullman Melbourne Albert Park: The ultimate romantic staycation

The Pullman Melbourne Albert Park might just be the perfect spot for a staycation for couples looking for a getaway in the hipster capital of Australia.

I stayed at the hotel this July with my fiancé, who has been working in Melbourne while I've been at home in Sydney, and we were lucky enough to enjoy the Time for Love special, which is perfect for a specific occasion or just a night away from the everyday.

Along with your accommodation, the Time for Love package gives you breakfast in your room, a bottle of Champagne or sparkling wine, a romantic gift (we got some delicious Koko Black chocolate) and, here's the best part, a guaranteed late checkout of 2pm! Honestly, is there anything better than a late checkout at a hotel?

We arrived on a Friday night, and after checking out the huge, luxurious room and trying some of our chocolates (delicious!), we headed on down to the Atrium Bar & Lounge for a drink before heading out for dinner.

The hotel has its own bespoke Mortimer's Gin, made by Tiny Bear Distillers, that features notes of juniper, coriander, lemon, stinging nettle, cardamom, Angelica root and orris root.

Using their bespoke gin, the bartenders created their special version of a gin sour, which was delicious! My fiancé chose his favourite cocktail – an Old-Fashioned, but told me he thought the gin sour was actually better.

We headed out to the nearby Prahan for dinner at Angus & Bon, which is a must if you like steak. And after returning to the hotel, we had one of the best nights of sleep of our lives. That's not even an exaggeration, the bed was so comfortable, we really didn't want to leave.

With no alarm set, we woke up at around 9am and, thankfully, didn't have to worry about hurrying out the door for checkout!

We then leisurely ordered room service – we both got the smashed avo with hash browns and bacon on the side, and let me tell you, it was the perfect choice, so delicious!

While it was definitely not the right time of year, you'd have front-row seats to the Formula 1 if you timed your trip correctly, as we had gorgeous views across the lake.

Another thing that was great is that if you wanted to watch your own content on the TV in the room, you can get an HDMI cord and plug it in – which you might want to do if you wanted to watch a movie as they are a bit on the pricier side. I don't know if it's weird, but I do often bring an HDMI cord with me for that reason if I might want to watch movies in my hotel room and it doesn't have a Chromecast system.

Because we'd checked in at around dinner time the night before, we hadn't had a chance to use the pool and spa, so after breakfast and some more lounging about, we headed down and were happy to see there was no one else there.

We hung out in the pool and spa for a while, and eventually, we figured it was time to get back to reality again, but not before tossing up whether or not we should stay another night!
