Crown Princess Mary and husband Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark have taken to the sunny slopes of a Swiss ski field to celebrate the Aussie-born royal’s 48th birthday.
Mary and Fredrik, 51, were spotted all rugged up and ready to carve up the slopes on Wednesday in the Alpine village of Verbier, where they own a luxe chalet.
The Danish royal couple reportedly dropped their four children off at their international school before donning their ski gear for a fun day with friends.
The prince and princess appeared relaxed as they waited in line for the lift with a crowd of other snow-goers, their skis, poles and gloves in hand.
Mary and Fredrik passed the time by chatting among themselves and at one point, the future king paused to take a phone call.
For her sporty day out Mary opted for black ski pants, a blue jacket and bronze helmet while her husband opted a burgundy and navy jacket and matching pants.
Once at the top of their run, the pair strapped on their skis and donned their goggles before expertly making their way down the slope.
Princess Mary’s Swiss chalet scandal
Mary and Frederik’s ski session comes less than a week after images of their ‘secret’ Swiss ski chalet - which they were renting out on Airbnb - were released.
The Danish royals are said to have let the luxe ski chalet in Verbier, Switzerland for $14,000 a week (65,400 Kroner) in the past, unbeknownst to the Danish public.
While it’s unclear how long the property was rented for and how much revenue was made, it is known that the couple has owned the spacious wooden lodge - which features a sauna, three bathrooms and room for 10 guests - for a decade.
News of the Crown Prince and Princess’s lucrative side-hustle sparked outrage and prompted the Royal Court to release an official statement stating the pair had used their own funds to purchase the property but would no longer accept revenue by renting it out.
The Tasmanian-born princess is currently living at the Swiss home for a 12-week stint while her four children - Prince Christian, 14, Princess Isabella, 12, and nine-year-old twins Princess Josephine and Prince Vincent - attend the Lemania-Verbier International School in the Swiss Alps.
