A Today host has revealed his son believes he is Princess Diana, and he’s got the chilling details that prove it.

Australia was shocked on Sunday when Today Extra’s David Campbell opened up about the strange tale in Stellar magazine.

He then revealed more while speaking on the late-morning show on Monday, explaining to co-host Brooke Boney that his son Billy believes he is Princess Diana reincarnated.

“It started when someone gave my wife Lisa, a card with Lady Di on it. Billy (then aged two) pointed and said, ‘Look! It's me when I was a princess’,” he said.

And he backed up those claims, saying his wife and he had tested the four-year-old’s belief expecting a laugh, and were instead met with chilling results.

“We did a test. We put up [pictures of] all these castles - like Balmoral, Windsor - and we said, ‘Which one of these ones was your Balmoral Castle?’,” he added.

David insisted it was precise every single time, for example, Billy knew exactly which castle was Diana’s favourite - Balmoral.

He said on one occasion the toddler even described the Scottish residence of the royal family in detail to the couple’s visiting Scottish friends, and they were blown away by his accuracy.

He was able to name a brother of Princess Diana - John, as well as say he had three other siblings.

John was a child of the Spencer’s that died in 1960, before Diana was born, is a lesser known figure of the family.

David said they are hardly monarchists, and would rarely discuss the royal family at home, so is at a loss as to how to explain the strange, and accurate, answers his son seems to be able to summon.

Princess Diana’s death in Paris in 1997 is the source of morbid fascination for many, and the cause of much drama and speculation.
