Prince William's 'cold' birthday message to Prince Harry slammed

They’re the royal brothers who’ve gone from being nearly attached at the hip to embroiled in a reported ‘feud’, and now Prince William’s birthday message to Prince Harry on Instagram has been branded ‘formal’ and ‘cold’.

Kensington Palace uploaded a cute snap to the official Instagram account, showing William standing at the altar beside his younger brother Harry, as they awaited Meghan Markle’s arrival on the now 35-year-old Duke of Sussex’s wedding day.

The brothers can be seen sharing a laugh and looking like the best of buddies, however the caption that accompanied the photo had royal fans up in arms.

“Wishing a very happy birthday to The Duke of Sussex today!” the caption read.

While this may seem like a nice way to honour Prince Harry on a public forum, Prince William has been slammed by Sussex supporters, with many saying the message is ‘cold’ and lacking brotherly love.

“This message is so cool and not from the heart,” one person commented, saying it’s ‘so sad’.

“Very formal greeting,” another commenter said, while another simply write: “Oh how cold”.

Prince William causes uproar

It’s not the first time a post made on the Kensington Palace Instagram account has angered fans, with the Duke of Cambridge’s Father’s Day message in June also causing an uproar in the comments section.

The snap showed William pulling funny faces at his precious one-year-old son, Prince Louis, who could be seen sitting on a swing in his mother, Kate Middleton’s Chelsea Flower Show garden.

Another photo showed William walking alongside his father, Prince Charles, as a tribute to his dad on the momentous day.

However, fans of the Cambridge family took serious issue with the first snap, with one person even calling the palace out for ‘making no effort’ with the post.

Most people were furious that Prince William’s two older children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte were absent from the photo.

“Why only Louis? Why not George and Charlotte? They are the eldest children! They should have posted the Christmas photo where there is all the Cambridge kids,” one person commented.

“Seriously William does not have a pic of him and all three of his children?” another royal fan said.

Sussexes cop flak on Instagram

Indeed, it’s not only the Cambridges who have felt the heat from Instagram trolls, with the Sussexes copping flak back in June themselves for their birthday message to William.

"Happy Birthday to The Duke of Cambridge!" they simply wrote in the comments section of a post on the Kensington Palace Instagram.

Royal fans accused the couple of sounding like they didn’t want to wish him happy birthday at all and for addressing William by his formal title.

"Such a cold birthday wish. That's confirmation right there that something unsettling is going on between Meghan and Kate. Very sad, indeed,” one person said.
