Prince William has given a glimpse of fatherhood in the Cambridge household as he shared two new pictures taken by his wife, ahead of his birthday.
William turns 38 on Sunday and will have a double celebration as it is also Father’s Day.
Ahead of his special day, the Cambridges shared two pictures of him playing with his children both taken by Kate in their home in Norfolk.
In one, the three children sit and stand around their father on a swing, as they smile at the camera. William has Louis, two, on his lap, while George, six, and Charlotte, five, stand behind him.
In another, the three children look to have bundled their father to the floor, stacking up on him in age order and laughing.
It’s a glimpse into the hands-on parenting the Cambridges have been keen to do even while being full-time working royals.
The couple and their children have been in Anmer Hall, their Norfolk home, since the middle of March and have made their return to some in-person engagements in the last week.
They also did some volunteering, releasing pictures for Charlotte’s birthday showing them delivering food parcels around the Sandringham estate.
As they returned to face-to-face visits, William joked about being ready to get back to the pub, and also said he had been doing lots of baking with the kids.
At a bakery in King’s Lynn on Friday, he said: “I’ve done a little bit of baking.
“The children have been attacking the kitchen and it’s just been an explosion of flour and chocolate everywhere.
“Catherine’s been doing quite a bit of baking.”
William is second in line to the throne, and is the most senior royal not at higher risk of catching coronavirus.
His grandmother, the Queen, is 94, and so has been kept in isolation in Windsor Castle to ensure her safety.
William’s father, Charles, is 71, and while higher risk, has already had and fought off COVID-19, suffering mild symptoms back in March.
He and his wife Camilla, 72, also returned to face-to-face engagements earlier this week.
William was born in the Lindo Wing in St Mary’s Hospital, a break from royal tradition, as all the Queen’s children were born in a royal palace.
He weighed 7lb 1 1/2oz, the first born to Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
He broke more royal tradition in attending his first royal tour at just nine months old. William and his wife Kate have since taken their children on tours with them.
Diana died in 1997, and William was 15 and his younger brother Harry, 12, when they walked behind her coffin through London.
He has since spoken a few times about the impact of losing his mother in his teens on his mental health.

William met Kate Middleton at the University of St Andrews in Scotland in 2001 and they dated on and off for several years before tying the knot in 2011.
They became the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the morning of their wedding.
They now have three children, George, Charlotte and Louis, and have been homeschooling during lockdown.
In recent years, both the duke and duchess have worked to reduce the stigma around mental health through their Royal Foundation. The duke has been volunteering as a counsellor on their text-based messaging service Shout during the pandemic.
William also worked on a documentary in which he visited football clubs from grassroots to Premier League to talk to fans and players about the importance of good mental health.
