Fears Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are being 'overshadowed' in royal family

They may be Queen’s granddaughters but Prince Andrew fears his daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, are being overshadowed in the royal family.

In particular, the Duke of York believes the Cambridge family are taking all the spotlight off his two daughters, whom he had with Sarah Ferguson.

“[Andrew] believes his daughters are being overshadowed by William, Kate and Harry and it will get worse as Prince George and Princess Charlotte get older,” The Sun’s royal correspondent, Emily Andrews, previously reported.

“He fears that they will be totally sidelined when the Queen dies.”

Prince Andrew was said to be left livid in 2016 when he went to his mother, Queen Elizabeth, and asked her if his daughters could be funded by the Sovereign Grant.

When she refused, Prince Andrew is said to have hit the roof and it only compounded his fears about the princesses being shunned to the back of the pack.

In 2017, it was reported that Prince Andrew was furious with his older brother, Prince Charles, when he allegedly took Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie off the royal payroll because they weren’t ‘working royals’.

Neither of the princesses carry out royal duties for the Queen and both have ‘normal’ jobs in the real world.

Last year, Princess Eugenie’s wedding was snubbed by the BBC, who happily aired Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s nuptials in May the same year.

Reports circulated that the BBC rejected pleas from Prince Andrew to broadcast the day and apparently cited that a lack of public interest would make the wedding a rating flop.

“The BBC was approached because they have a special relationship with Buckingham Palace and a formula that works,” an unnamed source told the Mail on Sunday.

“But they turned it down because they don’t think enough people will tune in and that there isn’t enough support for the Yorks.”

They added that despite the royal family’s biggest names – and a whole lot of high profile celebrities – being on the guest list, “nobody wants to take the risk and spend the money it would cost to put it on air.”
