The quirky gift Aussie Prime Minister Scott Morrison just gave the Queen
It was the perfect opportunity for Prime Minister Scott Morrison to hand the Queen a cute koala teddy bear to give her great-grandson, Archie, but instead, the Aussie leader presented Her Majesty with a different kind of gift during their first official meeting since he was elected last month.
The 51-year-old and his wife, Jenny, arrived at Buckingham Palace one day after the US President Donald Trump, made headlines all over the world during his state visit with the 93-year-old Monarch.
Mr Morrison was pictured holding a red gift bag on arrival at the palace, which left people wondering what interesting gift the Prime Minister had brought from Australia.
According to the ABC, Mr Morrison presented the Queen with a copy of Winx: Greatest of All Racehorses, which had been signed by author Andrew Rule.
While it might seem like a bizarre choice, considering the Queen is used to receiving glitzy jewellery from dignitaries, Scott Morrison’s choice of gift hit the mark perfectly, because the Monarch is famously an avid race-horsing fan.
Winx is now retired but she’s an Australian racehorse who will no doubt go down in history, after her four-year run of 33 consecutive race wins.
Just before meeting the Queen, Scott and Jenny Morrison were hosted at Clarence House by Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla.
The Aussie duo had just come from the Solomon Islands, telling the Queen that the Prime Minister there had sent his wishes to Her Majesty.
