What is seaweed?

This deep green sea vegetable is a popular Japanese staple and is also used in Chinese and Korean cuisine. The main types of seaweed species are nori or laver (used in sushi), arame, hijki, dulse, kombu (kelp) and wakame (the dark seaweed in miso soup).


What are the health benefits of seaweed?

It’s packed with iodine, a chemical that helps maintain sufficient levels of the thyroid hormones that regulate your weight, energy levels and mood. It’s also a rich source of fibre and contains anti-inflammatory and anti-viral properties.
