How To: Do a Skin Check

When?

Do a whole-body skin-cancer check every three months, advises Cancer Council Australia, particularly if you’re over 40, and more often if you’re a sun worshipper or work outdoors.

Where?

Check all over, including areas you don’t usually expose to the sun, such as your bottom and underarms.

What?

Look for changes in the shape, colour and size of moles or sunspots, as well as any new marks or moles. Have a partner or friend check those hard-to-see areas.

What’s next?

If you’re concerned about any changes to your skin, see your GP or dermatologist.
