'Lift' Your Lids
How to give your eyes a sexy, youthful shape

When eyelids appear a little droopy, deft application of eye shadow will pep them up. Here's how to recreate more youthful contours with a medium-deep shade of shadow such as brown, slate, or mocha. Starting at the upper outside corner of your eye, sweep the shadow in and down toward the crease of the eyelid. Then brush from the outside lower corner of the eye up to the crease (you're basically creating a sideways V). Other options: Apply highlighter on the brow bone to draw attention up and away from any droopiness. Line your upper lids with thicker-than-usual strokes of a dark powder or liner, and apply two coats of black mascara—doing either makes lids appear more taut, too. Well-defined brows also do the trick.

Glide-on Definition
Apply perfect eyeliner without tugging on your lids

Use a powder shadow or gel liner. They glide on easily and look the most natural. Also, invest in an eyeliner brush with slightly angled bristles--it helps draw a line that's not too thick or thin without having to pull delicate skin taut. First, apply eye shadow; its powdery texture primes lids so liner glides on. Then line your lids from the inner to outer corners; moving in this direction helps eliminate drag. Line just your top lashes to create a subtle look; for added definition, line your lower lids, too. When lining all around, make sure your top and bottom liner meet at the outer corners of your eyes--it'll give them a little lift.

Curl Your Lashes
A metal curler and some care will make your eyes look more open

Use a metal curler with a rubber sponge; foam increases breakage. To maximise the eye-opening effect, buy a tool that covers the entire lash line. Always crimp before applying mascara or your lashes can stick to the sponge and break. Begin by tilting your head up and inserting lashes into the curler as close to the base as possible; press for a few seconds. Then apply a coat or two of mascara, which contains fibres that hold the curl.

Get Full Brows
Learn how to fill in barely-there brows

Overzealous plucking, and changes in brow growth can leave permanent patches, so put your tweezers aside now and then. To add a little wow to your brow, use both a brow pencil and powder; the combination prevents a 'painted on' look. Choose shades that match the darkest tones in your hair--this adds definition that opens your eyes. Start by using the pencil to fill in your brows with short, featherlike strokes. Next, layer a coat of powder over the pencil with an angled brow brush. Use a brow comb to soften and blend brows and then set them with brow gel.
