Pregnant singer Mon Laferte displays baby bump in unique cut-out suit at Latin Grammys

Who says maternity wear has to be boring? Mon Laferte has thrown down the fashion gauntlet for celebrity mums-to-be by showcasing a daring suit with specially designed bump cut-out.

The Chilean rocker, who announced she’s expecting her first child earlier this year, offered proof she wasn't going to let a growing bump get in the way of her style credentials.

Arriving at the 22nd Latin Grammy Awards at the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, Laferte turned heads in a quirky lilac coloured power suit, which had a special cut-out to make way for her growing bump.

The 38-year-old Chilean singer, who proudly cradled her bump along the red carpet, also donned a bold black wig and a pair of chunky heeled monochrome loafers.

Later the singer changed into another daring maternity outfit to perform on stage alongside La Arrolladora Banda el Limon de Rene Camacho and Gloria Trevi.

The mother-to-be slipped out of an overcoat to reveal an incredible two-piece mariachi-inspired outfit, which once again showcased her baby bump.

Laferte's unique maternity looks certainly seemed to go down well with fans on social media with many praising the star for her bold styling.

"Loved Mon Laferte's baby bump reveal. Flawless queen," one fan wrote, while another commented: "Mon Laferte is so cute with a pregnant belly".

The singer and La Arrolladora Banda el Limon sang a version of Se Me Va a Quemar El Corazón, before she and Trevi teamed up for their female empowerment anthem Mujer.

As well as turning heads with her striking sartorial choices, the night was also a success for the star as she upped her career total of Latin Grammy wins to four after scooping the award for Best Singer-Songwriter Album for Seis.

Laferte isn't the only celebrity to prove pregnancy wear doesn't have to be conventional, Kylie Jenner, who is currently pregnant with her first child has been tearing up the maternity stye rule book too.

Debuting her baby bump, the reality TV star and beauty entrepreneur was spotted in a bump-skimming white leather mini dress and coat combo, before stepping out for New York Fashion Week rocking a sheer, lace jumpsuit, which had echoes of sister, Kim Kardashian's maternity style.

As well as the daring see-through ensemble worn by Kardashian when she was pregnant with son Saint, now 5, at the 2015 LACMA Film + Art Gala in Los Angeles, who could forget the floral Givenchy number she wore to the Met Gala in 2013, which spawned a whole series of memes?

Kate Hudson also adopted a bold look at the Venice Film Festival back in 2003, opting to show her bare bump in a semi-sheer co-ord during her first pregnancy.

Ashley Graham also proved she was doing maternity style differently rocking up to the Savage X Fenty Show in September 2019 in a bustier with a sheer, one-shoulder dress over the top, while pregnant with her first child.
