Pregnant Meghan Markle nearly topples over as she misses a step

While all the attention may be on how Meghan Markle cradled her baby bump during a surprise appearance last night at the British Fashion Awards, many people missed the alarming moment the pregnant Duchess nearly toppled over as she made her way onto the stage.

A video of the shocking near-fall was posted to Instagram by lifestyle blogger, Niomi Smart, who documented the Duchess of Sussex walking out to present the British Womenswear Designer of the Year award to her wedding dress creator, Clare Waight Keller of Givenchy.

In the above clip, Meghan can be seen taking a slight wobble as she made her way to the podium, however, she thankfully regained her balance in quick-smart time and carried on with her duties.

The 37-year-old – who is expecting her first child with Prince Harry in 2019 – was a special guest on the night as she honoured her wedding dress designer with a prestigious award.

Even her friend and the recipient of the award, Clare Waight Keller ,was in the dark about it, with the designer later telling Vogue she had seen Meghan just days previously and she hadn’t mentioned anything to her.

However, while Meghan may have stunned on the stage in her custom-made, one-shoulder Givenchy dress, people all over the web criticised how she cradled her baby bump under the bright lights.

Throughout the presentation, Meghan (gasp!) lovingly placed her two hands on her bump.

Meghan’s cradling move irked some trolls, who called it overly-posed and smug.
Among the negative reactions was a tweet comparing her to actress Demi Moore, who famously cradled her baby bump in the nude.

As it happens, Khloé Kardashian caught similar flak during her pregnancy with daughter True, prompting the reality star to fire back that she would “touch my bump and love my bump as often I choose,” noting that she had tried to get pregnant for a long time and wanted to enjoy the experience.

Enough said. The constant cradling also gave critics the chance to pick at another supposed transgression of Meghan’s, as it showed off her fashion-forward — and reportedly protocol-breaking — black nail polish.

Dark nails, physical contact with her future child… what ever will she dare to do next?
