Week 32 of your Pregnancy

You

You are now just eight weeks away from your due date and entering the eighth month of your pregnancy. As the ligaments in your pelvis start to soften, allowing your hips to spread wider to accommodate your growing baby and to prepare for his journey through your pelvic girdle in birth, you might find it more comfortable to walk with legs further apart than usual– yes, it’s waddle time!

As your baby continues to grow at this important time, your girth will graciously follow suit. And now that your uterus is somewhere near your rib cage, you may find yourself feeling breathless at times.

You might also have difficulty finding a comfortable position for a restful night sleep. To keep the weight of your uterus off your intestines and inferior vena cava (the important vein that carries the blood from your lower body back to your heart), try curling up on your left side and placing a pillow between your legs for extra support.

Baby

Your baby is getting sleepier now and spends most of the day napping. He weighs around 1.8 kilograms and he is around 43 cm long. His little bones are getting harder and calcifying at the moment, so be sure to get lots of calcium-rich food in your diet like hard cheese, yoghurt, even fish with tiny edible bones, and calcium-fortified milk or soy milk.
