Week 27 of your Pregnancy

You

You’re on the home stretch – just beginning the third trimester, and you’ll find that the view of your feet starts to become obscured by your burgeoning belly – how exciting!

Your baby has high nutritional needs as he continues to grow at this stage, so maintaining a well-balanced diet is essential. Make sure you're getting plenty of proteins (meat, fish, poultry and eggs are all good sources), iron and calcium. A great way to boost your nutritional intake is to choose healthy snack options like delicious fruit smoothies, cheese and whole-grain crackers or tasty boiled hard-boiled eggs.

It’s also a good time to start making a list of all the things you will need for your new baby – and get some early shopping in, as your pregnancy progresses you won’t feel like traipsing around so much. (Don’t forget to keep some things on your list for friends and family to buy as gifts, so if they call for gift suggestions you can let them know something you really need.)

Baby

Your baby measures about 36 cm from head to toe at this time and he weighs around 800 g. Your little one can hear noises outside of the womb and you may notice him jump at a sudden noise such as the neighbour's dog barking. His fingers, toenails, eyelashes and eyebrows are present and will grow until he is born.
