Popular butter sold at IGA recalled
A brand of organic butter that is sold at IGA stores across many Australian states has been recalled due to concerns that it could be contaminated.
Paris Creek Farms 200g bio-dynamic fresh butter unsalted could possibly be contaminated with Yersinia enterocolitica.
The bacteria, which is most often found in undercooked pork, can cause fever, abdominal pain and even bloody diarrhoea, with symptoms occurring four to seven days after exposure that can last weeks.
Consumers are urged to check the use-by-date of their butter and avoid consumption if it is listed as January 13, 2024.
The butter can be returned to the point of purchase for a refund.
IGA stores in South Australia, Northern Territory, Victoria and Western Australia have had the butter for sale as well as Foodies and Harris Farm stores in NSW and Foodland in SA.
