Pippa Middleton's nod to royals in son's name

She welcomed her first baby into the world last month and now it’s been revealed that Pippa Middleton has paid tribute to the one member of the royal family with her son’s name.

Pippa, who married James Matthews last year, gave birth at the Lindo Wing on March 15th – the same place her sister, Kate Middleton, welcomed all three of her children.

The 35-year-old has reportedly named her son Arthur Michael William Matthews, according to the Mail on Sunday.

Arthur was a favourite name that was on the top of all the betting tabs when Kate Middleton gave birth to all three of her children.

Prince Charles and Prince William’s middle name are Arthur and it was one of the middle names of the Queen’s father, George’s VI.

Pippa and James are believed to have picked the name Michael as a tribute to James’ brother of the same name, who passed away aged 23 while he was climbing Mount Everest in 1999.

Michael is also the first name of Pippa’s beloved father, Michael Middleton.

The name William is suspected to be a tribute to Pippa’s brother-in-law, Prince William.

The Duchess of Cambridge’s sister gave birth to a baby boy at the Lindo Wing, on Monday 15 October, at 1.58pm UK time, weighing 3.8kg or 8lb and 9oz.

In a short statement, Kensington Palace said: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are thrilled for Pippa and James.”

The couple, who married in May 2017, attended Princess Eugenie’s wedding on just three days before Pippa gave birth.

Heavily pregnant Pippa wore a dark green Emilia Wickstead dress for the ceremony at St George’s Chapel in Windsor.

The 35-year-old confirmed her pregnancy in her weekly fitness column for Waitrose Magazine in June.
