Phoebe and Sam Burgess reportedly split despite reconciliation attempt

Despite rekindling their romance earlier this year, Phoebe and Sam Burgess have reportedly called it quits again.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs player is said to have moved out of their $3.8 million home in Maroubra for the second time in a year.

The Sunday Telegraph reports the pair has been living in separate homes for a few weeks, with their focus being on co-parenting daughter Poppy, two, and 10-month-old son Billy.

“They tried to give it a go but it just didn’t work,” a source told the publication, adding the most important thing for them now is “that their children are happy and healthy”.

Back in January it was revealed former journalist Phoebe was spending time at her parents’ house in Bowral, after the couple told family and friends that they were separating.

The news of the split came after the pair welcomed second child William ‘Billy’ Burgess in early December. They also share daughter Poppy, born in January 2017.

Before that, in September 2018, Sam had shared his “hurt” over seeing his Phoebe upset, after the South Sydney star became embroiled in the Rabbitohs sexting scandal.

At the time the NRL star insisted his only priority was his loved ones.

“I just want to protect my family,” he explained at a press conference.

Phoebe breaks silence on reconciliation

But by April the pair had reconciled, with Phoebe Burgess breaking her silence on their reunion in an interview with Stellar magazine.

The turn of a new year appeared to mark a fresh start for the couple, who met in 2014, and rumours were quick to swirl that a reunion was imminent before Phoebe confirmed it.

“We are together, we are married,” she confirmed to Stellar.

“Sam and I have good days and we’ll have trying days. We’ll have challenges but it’s how you deal with those challenges together. Every single person on this planet who is married knows it isn’t perfect. It’s never going to be perfect.”

They were first spotted enjoying a family day out at Centennial Park back in February and made their first public appearance at a Sydney race day the following month.

But since then, the last photo of Sam which Phoebe shared to her Instagram account was back in June, with only their children featuring since.
