Patrick J. Adams can pinpoint the exact moment Suits changed his life as an actor.

In a clip from his new rewatch podcast, Sidebar: A Suits Watch Podcast, which he co-hosts with former costar Sarah Rafferty, Adams, 43, looked back on the show's pilot episode and explained how it catapulted his career in Hollywood.

"It's weird to have a moment on camera where you could see your life change, you know? Because this is where my life changed," he told Rafferty, 51. "The show changed my whole life. It's changed my career. It's changed the way that I work. It's changed the people in my life."

He added: "So many things wouldn't have happened were it not for the show.”

The scene Adams was referring to showed his character Mike Ross, who hadn’t attended law school and dropped out of college, being given a chance as an associate at the Pearson Hardman law firm by Harvey Spector (Gabriel Macht), who had previously exclusively hired Harvard Law graduates. Thanks to Mike’s photographic memory and dreams of one day becoming a lawyer, he was given a chance — and that was symbolic to Adams in his own life at the time as well.

"I can kind of distill it all down to this one scene between Harvey and Mike in this room,” Adams shared. “It's pretty wild."

Suits ran for nine seasons from 2011 to 2019, starring Adams, Macht, Rafferty, Rick Hoffman and Meghan Markle.

NBC announced plans for a spinoff series in February 2024, titled Suits: L.A. which is set to feature a new cast but follow the original legal drama’s storyline. This came after the series found a resurgence in popularity after airing on Netflix in June 2023.

Between its two streaming platforms on Peacock and Netflix, the show hit 3 billion streaming minutes for the week of June 26 to July 2, 2023.

In June, several cast members including Adams, Rafferty, Dulé Hill, Abigail Spencer and Amanda Schull appeared at the ATX TV Festival to mark five years since the show's series finale. When asked about the possibility of a Suits movie, Adams was quick to answer.

"Yes, and I say that being a person who has no power or authority, but obviously there's a Suits: L.A. show that is being made that is the focus of [Suits creator] Aaron [Korsh]. I think he would agree," the actor said.

"But it's definitely something he's interested in doing, in trying to get the band back together," he added of Korsh.

Adams went on to say that a Suits movie is "gonna depend on a million things if that can happen."

"But is it possible? I think it is possible," he said.
