Parting gift? Ageless Larry Fitzgerald scores in what might be second-to-last game

Larry Fitzgerald has been vague about his retirement plans. When the Arizona Cardinals receiver is asked about his future, he deflects.

Fitzgerald will eventually call it a career, and maybe we saw one final highlight on Sunday.

The future Hall of Famer scored the 120th touchdown of his career at Seattle, helping the Cardinals open up a surprising first-half lead. The only question is whether it would be his last in the NFL.

Fitzgerald took a short pass from a scrambling Kyler Murray and did the rest. He weaved through the Seattle defense and ran through the final defender to get into the end zone. That 21-yard score gave the Cardinals a 14-7 lead. Fitzgerald seemed to have a second touchdown on a great catch in the end zone, but it was reversed after a replay review.

Fitzgerald was just named to the NFL’s all-time team, a deserving honor. Fitzgerald has been a thrilling player for years, and he still has something left at age 36. Still, Sunday’s touchdown was just his second since Week 3. He had just 711 yards coming into Week 16. The ride will end at some point, and it might happen after this season. We’ve speculated on Fitzgerald’s retirement for years, so we’ll have to see what he decides to do.

But if Fitzgerald is nearing the end, we got at least one more vintage highlight from him.
