‘Outer Banks’ Co-Creators Tout “Feature Length” Season 4 Finale As Netflix Series’ “Best, Most Powerful Episode”

After that cliffhanger Episode 5 ending, Netflix’s hit action-adventure series Outer Banks is returning for the remainder of Season 4 on Nov. 7. It will culminate in a supersized finale that promises to pack an emotional punch, series co-creators/executive producers Jonas Pate, Josh Pate and Shannon Burke revealed in a letter to fans tied to Outer Banksrenewal for fifth and final season.

“The fourth season was our longest and hardest – but most rewarding – to produce,” the trio said of the current season, whose production was interrupted by the SAG-AFTRA strike. “The season ends with a feature-length episode, which we think is our best, most powerful episode. We hope you feel the same way.”

Outer Banks‘ episodes on average are between 40 min and 60 min in length. Before Season 4, the show had crossed the 1 hr mark twice, with the Season 2 (1hr 1 min) and Season 3 (1hr 19 min) finales. Season 4 — the first time Outer Banks has been released in two parts — is believed to feature three episodes that go over 60 min. The eventful Episode 5, which served as a midseason finale, ran for 1 hr 2 min. Another episode in Part 2 is expected to have the same duration, with the season finale eclipsing the Season 3 closer as the longest episode in the series so far. (It is said to be slightly longer than 1 hr 19 min.)

Per the official synopsis, following last season’s 18-month flash-forward showing Wes Genrette’s proposal for the Pogues to find Blackbeard’s treasure, Season 4 takes us back in time to the lead-up of that moment. After finding the gold at El Dorado, the Pogues return to the OBX and commit to having a “normal” life. They’ve built themselves a new safe haven, officially dubbed “Poguelandia 2.0”, where they live together and run a fairly successful bait, tackle, and charter tour shop. But after some financial setbacks, John B, Sarah, Kiara, JJ, Pope, and Cleo take Wes up on his offer, drawn back into the “G” game for a whole new adventure. Before they know it, they’re well in over their heads, with dangerous new enemies hot on their heels racing them to the treasure. Meanwhile, their problems are only growing, and they’re forced to question their past, present, and future – who they really are, has it all been worth it, and how much are they willing to risk?

According to the Season 4 Part 2 trailer, revealed by the cast at the Poguelandia LA live event Saturday, John B & Co. are headed to Morocco in their pursuit of Blackbeard’s Blue Crown. (You can watch it below.)

The Season 4 cast includes Chase Stokes (John B.), Madelyn Cline (Sarah Cameron), Madison Bailey (Kiara), Jonathan Daviss (Pope), Rudy Pankow (JJ), Carlacia Grant (Cleo), Drew Starkey (Rafe), Austin North (Topper), Fiona Palomo (Sofia), J. Anthony Crane (Chandler Groff), Pollyanna McIntosh (Dalia), Brianna Brown (Hollis Robinson), Rigo Sanchez (Lightner), Mia Challis (Ruthie) and Cullen Moss (Shoupe).
