Osher Günsberg 'would love' for there to be a gay Bachelor
In 2013 Osher Günsberg became Australia’s very own cupid hosting The Bachelor, shortly followed by The Bachelorette in 2015.
Both shows promote finding love in heterosexual relationships, but could there be a time when we’ll see same-sex relationships on the show?
Osher certainly is keen for it to happen.
“I would love if we could make a gay Bachelor,” he told The Guardian in a recent interview. “I think it might take off.”
While the 44-year-old is totally behind the idea of a gay Bachelor, it’s not his decision as he has “nothing to do with the casting”.
However, he believes that’s the way things are heading.
“We are starting to move the needle in that direction,” Osher explained.
From the Bachelor and Bachelorette franchises there have been many success stories, including Tim Robards and Anna Heinrich, Sam Wood and Snezana Markoski and Matty Johnson and Laura Byrne.
Although there has also been a fair share of disaster stories including Blake Garvey’s proposal to Sam Frost, Sophie Monk’s tumultuous and short-lived romance with Stu Laundy, and finally Nick Cummins breaking all our hearts choosing no one in the most recent season.
Can you tell we’re still not over the drama from the Honey Badger’s season?
With the tides changing, having a same-sex Bachelor and Bachelorette season is just what needs to happen.
