Oscars to Stream Live on Hulu Next Year for the First Time
The Academy Awards are officially entering the streaming age.
For the first time ever, the Oscars will stream live on Hulu next year for all subscribers in addition to airing on ABC, TVLine has learned. The 97th annual awards ceremony, which honors the year’s best films, will air and stream live on Sunday, March 2 at 7 pm ET/4 pm PT, with the official live red carpet show preceding it at 6:30 pm ET/3:30 pm PT. The Oscars telecast will also be available to stream in full on Hulu the next day.

Conan O’Brien will host next year’s Oscars for the first time, after previously hosting the Emmys in 2002 and 2006. He steps in for fellow late night veteran Jimmy Kimmel, who has hosted the Oscars for the past two years. Kimmel ultimately turned down a chance to return for a third consecutive year, with comedian John Mulaney also rumored to be in the running to host. Oscar nominations will be announced Friday, Jan. 17.
The Oscars join several other awards shows in offering a streaming option: This year’s Grammys streamed live on Paramount+ as well as airing on CBS, and this year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards streamed exclusively on Netflix.
