Magic F Jonathan Isaac carted off floor after knee injury in Washington

Orlando Magic forward Jonathan Isaac was stretchered off the court on Wednesday afternoon at Capital One Arena just minutes into a game against the Washington Wizards after suffering a knee injury.

After grabbing a steal near midcourt, Isaac took off and tried to finish the layup on the other end. As he made contact with Wizards star Bradley Beal in the paint, however, Isaac’s left knee appeared to give way. He grabbed it immediately in pain as he fell to the floor, where he remained for several minutes.

Isaac was eventually carted into the locker room.

The Magic later announced that Isaac suffered a hyperextended left knee. He will undergo an MRI and be evaluated on Thursday after the team returns to Orlando.

It’s unclear how much time he will miss, if any, ahead of their four-game homestand — which starts Friday with a matchup against the Miami Heat.

Isaac has averaged 12.3 points and 7.1 rebounds this season for the Magic, his third in the league, and has played more than 30 minutes per game so far this year. The 22-year-old had two points and one rebound on Wednesday when he went down.

While Isaac went down in the opening minutes, the Magic had little trouble getting past the Wizards.

Orlando, after bouncing back and forth in the first half, cruised to a 122-101 win while holding Washington to just 18 points in the final quarter. D.J. Augustin led the Magic with 25 points and nine assists off the bench. Nikola Vucevic added 20 points and 12 rebounds, and Evan Fournier finished with 18 points. Beal lead the Wizards with 27 points on the night.
