She may be the envy of people all over the world with her Duchess title, incredible outfits and adorable kids, but it turns out Kate Middleton is just like the rest of us.
The 36-year-old Duchess of Cambridge, who has three children with future King of England, Prince William, apparently was only ever jealous of one woman.
And if you’ve ever heard rumours that your ex-boyfriend is besotted with another woman, you’ll understand why.
Prince William reportedly had a thing for socialite and actress Isabella Calthorpe ever since they met in 2004 and is said to have pursued that when he split with Kate in 2007.
Isabella is the daughter of banking heiress Lady Mary Gaye Curzon, and the half-sister of Prince Harry’s former girlfriend, Cresida Bonas.
It’s previously been reported that Kate got so jealous of Isabella’s budding friendship with Prince William at the beginning of their relationship, that she stormed out of a ball when he spent the night talking to her.
Isabella was also highly connected to the royal family and was on friendly terms with Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice.
And according to royal author Katie Nicholl, who wrote William and Harry: Behind the Palace Walls, Prince William, Isabella might have been the reason Will and Kate broke up in 2007.
At the time, Kate and Wills were spending an increasing amount of time apart.
William was stationed at a barracks outside London and Kate was pursuing a fashion career, with both of them being photographed many times out on the tiles without the other.
Kate was being hounded by photographers, with William pleading for her privacy in a statement released through Kensington Palace.
Indeed, it seemed like things got too much for the lovebirds as in March 2007 they had parted ways, with Katie blaming William’s infatuation with Isabella for the split.
“He had fallen for her in a huge way and wanted to be with her,” Katie told the Daily Mail.
“He propositioned her several times that summer and although Isabella was single, she knocked William back and said it would be too damaging for her and her career.”
“She is a name in her own right and on her way to becoming hugely successful. In her view, being affiliated with William in a girlfriend capacity would be damaging for her.”
She went on to say that Kate was well aware of William’s plans and was green with envy
However, the pair reunited in June that year and married four years later.
Isabella was a guest at their wedding and is now married to Sir Richard Branson’s son, Sam Branson.
