Torello's message continued, "While a part of me died with you, I promise to fight to find joy in life as hard as you fought to live every single day. The world is lucky to have even had a moment with Paul Teal, and I am the luckiest person in it, because I got to call you mine. I will love you forever."
She didn't share Teal's exact cause of death, though her tribute to her fiancé mentioned a "battle," likely connected to his health.
Teal appeared in many different projects throughout his acting career, with one of his memorable screen appearances being his role as Josh on One Tree Hill. In Season 7, Josh was an actor who starred in the movie Seven Dreams 'Til Tuesday with the character Alex, played by Jana Kramer. The two had a short and tumultuous relationship until he came out as gay.
The late actor's One Tree Hill co-star Bethany Joy Lenz, who played Haley, shared an emotional tribute to Teal after hearing of his passing. She noted that they also worked together on a small musical production of The Notebook in 2006, with Teal playing Noah.

"My heart is heavy. Paul Teal was the kind of guy who lit up a room without trying. His bright smile, infectious laugh and kind heart made you want to be near him," Lenz said. "He was shy and funny and so so comfortable on stage. Wow. Like his second skin. You couldn’t take your eyes off him."
She concluded with the message, "Paul, your time here was like a summer romance for all of us who knew you, especially if only for a season. Bursting, exciting, deeply moving, and unforgettable."
Along with his television appearances, Teal had a successful career on stage as well. His final stage performance was in the Opera House Theatre Co.'s 2022 production of Newsies in Wilmington, N.C. He played the lead role of Jack Kelly.
