One lucky couple will soon have the opportunity to make a binding commitment in a most unique place!
The Arlington Public Library in Virginia announced that one lucky engaged couple from the Greater Washington National Capital Region in Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia will be able to win a free wedding.
The Friends of the Arlington Public Library would fund all costs for the wedding — which is set to be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Central Library Lobby & Auditorium. This includes catered food, a cake, photography, a DJ, photobooth station and even music courtesy of the Arlington Philharmonic.
The ceremony will host a wedding party of 50 guests or less and be “open to the public,” according to the application website.

All “unmarried” and “engaged” couples who are over the age of 18 and Arlington Public Library cardholders can apply. The application noted that they were looking for applicants who “love books, love libraries and love love” and they have to answer the question of why they would “love to get married at the library?”
"At Arlington Public Library, we believe in the power of love," said Library Director Diane Kresh, in a statement in a press release.
This comes as the library announced its theme for its 2025 series of Arlington Reads author talk series: Romance. It’s set to hold sessions for notable romance writers including Julia Quinn, who penned the Bridgerton novels (which spun-off Netflix’s hit Bridgerton series).

Quinn isn’t the only author featured in the series to have gotten a screen-adaptation for her work, as Casey McQuiston, who wrote Red, White & Royal Blue (which spawned an Amazon movie adaptation of the same name), will also be there.
Romantic Comedy author Curtis Sittenfeld and Everything, Everything authors David and Nicola Yoon will also be featured in the author talk series.
