Olivia Munn Is 'Constantly Trying to Keep Me Out of Danger,' Says Husband John Mulaney, Citing Hilarious Fears
The comedian revealed that Munn warned him about "brain-eating amoeba" after reading a PEOPLE Magazine article, as well as monkey pox from trying on clothes and "crazy cars" while taking walks with their son
One of Olivia Munn's biggest priorities is keeping John Mulaney safe!
Before presenting his wife with InStyle's Woman of Impact award at the ImageMakers event on Oct. 25, the comedian, 42, shared the couple's hilarious text chain and the warnings Munn, 44, has issued for his safety.
"Olivia is constantly trying to keep me out of danger and keep me alive through a series of texts throughout our entire relationship," he began before reading the messages off his phone.
While heading to the Tom Ford store in Chicago, Mulaney recalled how Munn once texted, "Baby, be so careful today, you can get monkey pox trying on clothes at a store and/or not washing your new clothes."
In one message sent in March 2023, at 7 a.m., the Big Mouth star revealed that the actress sent him a PEOPLE article with the headline, "Florida man dies of brain eating amoeba after rinsing sinuses with tap water."
"She texted underneath it, 'John, John, we are never moving to Tampa,'" he recited as the audience burst into laughter. "Now, we had never discussed moving to Tampa, but it was officially off the table."
Another instance involved Mulaney taking their son Malcolm on a walk in a stroller for the "200th time" in Chicago.
"She wrote me out of nowhere, no context. 'Please be so careful today. So many crazy things can come out of nowhere. I texted back, 'Like what?' Olivia responded, 'Crazy cars,'" he mused. "You don't hear enough about crazy cars. I can't believe it's not an issue in this election."
This wasn't the only time Munn warned her husband about crazy driving conditions. After Dick Van Dyke was involved in a car accident in Los Angeles, the actress told Mulaney how the incident left the actor with a "bloody nose, bloody mouth" before texting, "You have to be so careful driving in the rain. Oil collects on LA streets."
He continued, "When I was on tour in Australia, she sent me this, 'Baby, so many things in Australia can kill you. Just go to your show and go back to your hotel, and never go outside.' And this is the last one, 'You have a family to think about now.'"
On Tuesday, Oct. 29, Munn reacted to her husband's hilarious anecdotes about their text conversations with a photo posted to her Instagram Stories.
"To be clear, I was dead serious about each of those texts," she wrote. "Brain eating amoebas are a very real threat. As well is not washing new clothes after buying. As well as water beads for kids."
"Don't sleep on any of my warnings," she jokingly added.

PEOPLE first reported Mulaney and Munn's relationship in May 2021. That September, Mulaney revealed during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers that he and Munn were expecting a baby together. Their son Malcolm was born on Nov. 24, 2021, and they later announced they had welcomed their second child, a daughter named Mei, via gestational surrogate on Sept. 14.
In July 2024, the couple married in an intimate ceremony at a friend's home in New York state, a source close to Mulaney told PEOPLE at the time. Malcolm and a witness were the only loved ones in attendance at the nuptials. Sam Waterston, Munn's costar from The Newsroom, officiated.
