To give your dying flower bouquets a new life, you can make homemade potpourri out of the flower petals in just a few easy steps. Not only are you getting one more use out of your fresh flowers, but your home will smell better for it.

Supplies you need:

How to make homemade potpourri

  1. Cut stems off the flowers, leaving just the buds.

  2. Slice your citrus fruits, such as oranges, grapefruits or lemons, into rounds.

  3. Gather your favorite whole spices.

  4. In a small spray bottle, add one tablespoon of water to 10-15 essential oil drops.

  5. Spread the flower petals, fruits and spices onto a parchment-covered baking sheet and spritz with the essential oil mixture.

  6. Bake at 180 degrees Fahrenheit for at least two hours.

  7. Add one more spritz of essential oil mixture.

  8. Place your potpourri in a decorate vase or bowl and enjoy!
