The world watched on in amazement in 2009 as it emerged that Natalie Suleman - who became known as Octomom - gave birth to eight babies conceived through IVF.

Natalie already had six children through past IVF treatments, which gave her a total of 14 children.

When she arrived back from the hospital she was met with death threats from people angry about her having fourteen children as a single mother.

Now, 11 years on, she has posted a picture of her octuplets ahead of their eleventh birthday and is getting on with life like any other mum.

She posted the picture of Noah, Maliyah, Isaiah, Nariyah, Jonah, Makai, Josiah and Jeremiah during a woodland walk.

“While Aidan was sitting, distracted with sensory exploration in the dirt, I snapped a quick picture of all the little kids together. This is a rare occurrence considering how crazy active and energetic they all are! #ActiveLifestyle #FitFamily #KidsBeingKids.” She captioned the Instagram post.

For many of us, the end of a decade offers us a rare moment of reflection. Natalie was no different and has written on Instagram about her turbulent decade which saw her face scrutiny for her parenting choices.

“Despite the pain of my past, I’ve chosen to use my struggles as stepping stones, promoting my pursuit of achieving the goals I’ve set for my family.” She wrote on a recent post.

The caption accompanied a quote that reads: “Don’t judge my story on the chapter you walked in on”, a quote she has shared in the past.

Seven years ago, Natalie made the decision to step out of the tabloid media spotlight, a decision she speaks about in one of her recent posts.

“2020 marks the seventh year since escaping the false life I was leading; forging on, building a better life for my family. I made a decision to repudiate all requests from tabloid type media (despite how lucrative the offer), as my goal is to progress, and publish my full true story.”

Natalie’s other children range from ages 14-19 and were all conceived through IVF.

The octuplets are the only surviving set in the world and have the same surname as her sperm donor - Solomon.

They have to eat in shifts at their home in California and all take it in turns to sleep on the sofa. This might sound like a bad deal, but it only equates to a maximum of twice per month.
