Nursing Golden Retriever Puppies' Adorable Antics Leave Everyone in Stitches

Puppies are pretty much always cute but these nursing Golden Retrievers and the silly way they're eating is giving everyone the giggles.

On September 30, Nichol Berry Goldens (@nicholberrygoldens) shared a video of a Golden Retriever litter eating and the two who kept it interesting. Take a look!

In a short but sweet clip, we meet a new Golden Retriever mama, and her little cute little puppies. It's nursing time, which happens a lot since these are growing pups.

While the video alone could be enough to have any pet parent swoon, these dogs were not ready to slow down their energy, even for dinner, and their silly antics are hilarious.

"What's funnier than one puppy upside down at the milk bar?" the text on the screen reads. In the clip, there are six little puppies who all want to eat at the same time. But one stands out because they're eating their own way.

Instead of being on their paws, the one puppy right in the middle is on their back, paws and belly up, while they're eating.

Everyone is wiggling around, and among all the white fur, those little black toe beans stick out.

But then as the video goes on, and the puppies move more and more, their little tails are wagging, and a second puppy manvoers around to lay right next to the doggy with the belly up, and tries that eating method, too.

"Oh my gosh, they keep me laughing," the video's caption read. In the comments, people shared their reactions to the silly puppies and the calm and chill mama who puts up with all the movement.

One wrote, "Patient mama!"

Another shared, "So stinkin' cute!! And those itty bitty toe beans!"

Someone added, "Look at those tiny baby paws!"

Another wrote, "It must be beyond spectacular to witness these miracles."

One shared, "You and the puppies make me smile every single day."

Someone else joked, "Dang, I thought he was going to wee. So cute little toe beans and Little tail wags. I can watch them all day."

When puppies are first born, it's hard to imagine that those small little creatures will grow so much that they'll look like fully grown dogs one day. The reality is that time goes quickly and before long, these pups will no longer be nursing and will be onto kibble and very likely new homes, too.

But for people who like to look at things one step at a time, how long do puppies typically need to nurse?

According to Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, the typical expected time is between 7 to 10 weeks. The experts explain that when puppies transition to solid foods, like human babies, there is typically a period of time where nursing and eating solids are done in tandem.

"They still nurse, and mothers continue to produce milk for up to 10 weeks. Some nursing is for nutrition, but it is also a comforting, bonding activity for the puppies," the university writes. "Most puppies are fully weaned to solid food between 7 and 10 weeks of age, although the transition can occur earlier."

And, on average, puppies tend to need to stay with their mom up to 12 weeks.
