Are they really dancing in The Merry Gentlemen?

The answer to that question is very merrily yes. For Murray, “It was something that I’d never done. I said, ‘Oh, this scares the crap out of me. I’ve got to do this. I made a bunch of phone calls and said, ‘Let’s get in as much rehearsal time as possible.’”

It proved to be a bonding exercise between the actors in the "revue" as well. “If you’re going to do it, you got to do it right. You got to go all in. All the guys were awesome,” Murray revealed. “There was definitely a bond there. Everybody just helped each other up. And everyone else had a different gift to give to the film.”

Did the female actresses enjoy The Merry Gentlemen dance routines?

I mean, come on, who wouldn't? Robertson quite enjoyed watching the routines come together and would occasionally pop into their rehearsals. She was particularly fond of the Western-themed performance. “I have a certain affection for the cowboys—I’m Southern,” she said. “The hats, the boots. There’s so much you can work with!”
