Nobody Wants This is set to return for another season.

The popular romantic comedy series stars Kristen Bell as agnostic podcast host Joanne, who strikes up an unlikely romance with ‘hot rabbi’ Noah (Adam Brody).

Having been a major success for Netflix since its debut last month (it’s the second most-watched show on the streaming platform in the UK currently, and has garnered more than 26 million views worldwide), it has just been confirmed that Nobody Wants This will return for a second season.

However, the upcoming new batch of episodes will see different showrunners at the helm. Girls’ writers Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan will now be leading the script.

Creator Erin Foster, who was inspired by her own experiences to write Nobody Wants This, will now be serving as the show’s executive producer.

Speaking about the renewal, Foster told Deadline: “Creating Nobody Wants This will forever be a career highlight for me.

“The incredible cast, crew, producers and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers’ reactions to this series now that it’s out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed.

“I’m so lucky to be able to continue this story, and to do it alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who I’ve been such a fan of since Girls… Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic!”

Earlier this year, Foster spoke to Harper’s Bazaar about her experience writing the series. “I would say that the best writing comes from personal experience because you can speak to a unique perspective that you have in the situation,” she said. “I’m not always great at seeing the things I’m going through in my life as stories to tell for TV.

“When I met Simon, he said it would be important to him to marry someone Jewish and asked me if I would convert. It was kind of like, ‘Yeah. Whatever. I’ll be Jewish.’

“What was interesting for the purposes of a show was how similar it seemed like our lives were, but then, when we dug into it, how different they really were. We thought it would be ripe territory for a relationship show, looking at and analysing challenges in a relationship that felt very true to life, and not these sort of blown-out-of-proportion, manufactured challenges.”

'Nobody Wants This' is available to watch on Netflix.
