Nicole Kidman wants you to meme her AMC ad: 'I'll do anything for cinema'
The actress walks the walk, having acted in two movies and three TV shows this year.
Nicole Kidman has been a movie star for more than 40 years, earning an Oscar and making multiple iconic films (including both box office blockbusters and cult classics) during that time. But these days, she might be most famous for her AMC ads, in which she wears a sparkling gray pantsuit as she waxes poetic about the magic of movies and delivers lines that have become iconic, like "somehow, heartbreak feels good in a place like this."

Kidman once expressed ambivalence about the ads, which first launched in 2021, previously saying that she now hides her face in the theater when they come on. But in a new interview with British GQ, Kidman clarified that she stands by the sentiment expressed in those ads. She will do whatever it takes to defend the big-screen theatrical experience in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and last year's Hollywood strikes.
"I’ll do anything for cinema, so you can meme me as much as you want," Kidman told the publication.

Kidman is also notable for being one of the hardest-working big stars in Hollywood. This year alone, she has starred in three different TV shows (Lulu Wang's The Expats on Amazon Prime Video, The Perfect Couple for Netflix, and season 2 of Special Ops: Lioness on Paramount+) as well as two movies. A Family Affair, in which she costarred with Zac Efron and Joey King, hit Netflix earlier this year, while her A24 movie Babygirl is set for a Christmas release.
Don't expect Babygirl to be full of holiday cheer, though. As Kidman discussed with GQ, the upcoming film from director Halina Reijn (Bodies Bodies Bodies) is a BDSM-tinged romance in which Kidman gives a raw performance as a CEO who falls for her domineering intern (Harris Dickinson).
“I’m in the whole film,” Kidman said. “There are so many close-ups. It’s a full stripping of me.”

On top of all this, Kidman has other film and TV projects on the horizon. In other words, she earned her spot on the cover of Vanity Fair's latest Hollywood issue. She knows that we come to this place for magic.
