She spent years keeping mum on the subject of her eldest children and their ties to Scientology, but Nicole Kidman has begun to open up about her kids with Tom Cruise.

Nicole, who adopted Bella, now 26, and Connor, now 24, during her 11-year marriage to Cruise, has given a candid interview to Vanity Fair, speaking about being their mother.

Nicole is also mum to Sunday, 10, and Faith, eight, whom she had with husband Keith Urban.

“You can’t really get kids into anything, I’ve realised. You can push them a bit, but motivation is a really hard thing. I mean, nobody motivated me to be an actor; if anything they tried to deter me,” Nicole said.

“Bella lives just outside London. You know, she really feels more English. We lived there for Eyes Wide Shut, Mission Impossible, and The Portrait of a Lady.

“They both had English accents when they were little,” she added.

Over the years, the 51-year-old has remained notoriously tight-lipped about the difficulties she’s faced since separating from Tom in 2001 — a devout Scientologist.

In November last year, Nicole gave a rare interview about her kids where she discussed how she deals with their commitment to the Church of Scientology.

“They are adults. They are able to make their own decisions,” she told Who magazine.

But the mum-of-four went on to say that it’s her duty as a mum to love them no matter what.

“They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it’s my job to love them,” she said.

“And I am an example of that tolerance and that’s what I believe — that no matter what your child does, the child has love and the child has to know there is available love and I’m open here.”

It comes just weeks after it was reported that Tom Cruise has reportedly banned Nicole from attending the wedding of their son Connor.

Connor is planning to marry his Italian girlfriend Silvia, who reportedly been named the “Scientologist Princess.”

A source told Radar Online: “Tom is behind this and what he wants is as good as law.

“Tom made the call and Connor followed.”

According to the source, Connor “worships the ground his father walks on,” and didn’t want to disobey him.

Kidman and Cruise were both absent from her daughter Isabella’s wedding to Max Parker in 2015.
