Fall might be right around the corner, but Nicole Kidman is keeping the Italian summer style vibes going strong. While promoting her erotic thriller Babygirl at the Venice Film Festival, the Big Little Lies looked every inch the classic movie siren while posing with her co-stars against the city’s iconic backdrop of vaporetto boats and waterways. On Friday, August 30, Kidman turned heads in a plunging LBD with unique details and a ‘70s-style shoe.

The multi-hyphenate showed off her physique in the black Bottega Veneta A-line dress, which featured a fitted bodice, a low-cut v-neck, and “very demure” puffed sleeves that were accentuated with fishtail-style braiding and subtle cutouts at her shoulder. The midi-length skirt flared out at the hips and almost went to her ankles, giving it a very sundress-esque vibe.

She accentuated the midi-length gown’s delicate neckline with a bombshell high ponytail featuring a sleek top and voluminous curls – a hairstyle which looked just like the iconic look the then red-haired Kidman wore for an Omega event back in 2009. The actress showed off a pair of black flower drop earrings with the updo as she smiled and chatted with co-star Antonio Banderas and director Halina Reijn in the water taxi.

Kidman complemented her porcelain complexion with bold brows, defined cat eyes, and soft rose lips. A subtle black watch with gold hardware, trendy black cat eye sunglasses, and a pair of retro-inspired sandals completed her Venice Film Festival outfit. The chunky white sandals featured a wide leather strap and heels which flared out at the bottoms.

The Undoing actress, who recently said in a Vanity Fair interview that her role in the film left her feeling “ragged” and “very exposed as an actor, as a woman, as a human being,” told reporters on Friday that she felt comfortable filming the movie’s vulnerable scenes with a female director at the helm.

"This is one woman's story, and this is, I hope, a very liberating story. It's told by a woman through her gaze ... and that's what, to me, made it so unique, was that suddenly I was gonna be in the hands of a woman with this material,” she said during a press conference held before the film’s premiere, per People.

"That's what made it so compelling, was being in the hands of Halina, because I knew she wasn't gonna exploit me. I mean, however anyone interprets that, I didn't feel exploited. I felt very much a part of it. It's the story that I wanted to be a part of, that I wanted to tell. And every part of me was committed to that,” she continued.
