Nicki Minaj's father, Robert Maraj, killed in hit-and-run accident

Nicki Minaj has been left devastated by the loss of her father Robert Maraj, after he was killed in a tragic hit-and-run incident over the weekend.

The 64-year-old died on Friday, TMZ revealed on Sunday, after confirming the news with Nassau County Police.

The grandfather was reportedly struck by a vehicle while walking at a major intersection between main road Roslyn Road and a side street Raff Avenue in Long Island in the US on Friday afternoon.

The father of the Grammy-nominated artist was taken to hospital from the scene and died from his injuries over the weekend, the report claims.

Nicki has not publicly commented on the death of her father, though a representative of the artist confirmed his death to TMZ.

The new grandpa died just four months after Nicki gave birth to her first baby with husband Kenneth Petty.

Her father's death comes on the back fo a tumultuous time of Minaj's family, after her brother Jelani Maraj was imprisoned for life over the rape of a child back in January of 2020.

It's unclear if Nicki and her father were on good terms at the time of his death.

The rapper has been pictured looking affectionate with her dad over the years, but her mother has also spoken candidly about domestic abuse she claims he inflicted on the family during Nicki's childhood.
