Nick Cummins slammed over 'nonsense' Bachelor interview

He walked away from both women in a bombshell Bachelor finale last week and now Nick Cummins has faced backlash after trying to explain his actions.

The 31-year-old rugby union star, who calls himself The Honey Badger, gave his only interview to The Project’s Lisa Wilkinson last night, where he told runners up Brittany Hockley and Sophie Tieman, that if he was to ever see them again, he’d buy them a drink ‘for old times’ sake’.

Fans online were quick to slam the star for his insensitive comment, with one claiming it ‘has not helped Nick’s image’.

“Mr honey badger is talking nonsense. I think he should just stick to what he loves the most…NRL,” another person said.

“It hit me with a fair bit of a thunderbolt,” Nick said when Lisa asked him how he knew he wasn’t going to end up with either of the women.

“It was just like, you know what? Out of respect to these women, if I can’t stand here right now and say, ‘I’m picking her, and I love her,’ if I can’t say that, why would I start something with someone?”

The Project host then went on to ask Nick if fan favourite, Brooke Blurton, was the one who got away.

“There were some things left unsaid, there were a lot of emotions left swirling around. She got away in that regard, but I wouldn’t change it because I want what’s best for her and I was her to be happy,” Nick replied.

He went on to sy that Brooke is only 23-year-old and needs to ‘have a support base’ because she lives in Perth.

However, Brooke couldn’t stop crying during her interview, saying she really ‘wanted it to be worth it with him’

Nick ended the interview by telling Lisa he was off to find himself on the 120km Kokoda trail in Papua New Guinea.

“To all the girls I just want you all to know that if ever seen you again I’ll buy you a drink and say hello for old time’s sake,” he said.
