NFL betting: Wild Bears comeback win over Falcons results in 6-figure payout for bettor

Nick Foles came off the bench and led the Chicago Bears to a dramatic, come-from-behind 30-26 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

And that dramatic turnaround put a six-figure sum of money into the pocket of one BetMGM bettor who wagered $100,000 on the Bears at +120 on the moneyline. Foles’ heroics resulted in a $120K payout.

Entering the fourth quarter, that bet was not looking good at all. The Falcons led 26-10 and Bears head coach Matt Nagy benched starter Mitchell Trubisky in favor of Foles, who famously led the Philadelphia Eagles to the Super Bowl a few years ago.

Foles, known for his clutch play off the bench, delivered like he has so many times in the past. He led three straight fourth-quarter touchdown drives, all of which ended with Foles TD passes.

First, he hit Jimmy Graham from 3 yards out at the 6:20 mark to cut Atlanta’s lead to 26-16. On the ensuing drive, Foles connected with Allen Robinson for a 37-yard score on a great individual effort from Robinson.

Along the way, the Bears defense forced the Falcons into three straight three-and-outs. The third of those defensive stops paved the way for another Foles touchdown. This time, on third-and-8, Foles stood in the pocket, withstood a hit and delivered a strike in stride to Anthony Miller for a 28-yard touchdown with 1:53 left in regulation.

In a span of fewer than five minutes, the Bears flipped a 26-10 deficit into a 30-26 advantage. To seal the victory — and a winning wager for this bettor — the defense needed one more stop. That stop came when Tashaun Gipson intercepted Falcons QB Matt Ryan near midfield, allowing Foles and the Bears to run out the clock and finish off the victory.

What a whirlwind that must have been for Bears backers. And for Falcons backers, well, that’s just a nightmare turn of events. And a familiar feeling for a team that has blown so many leads over the years.
