The royal baby isn’t even born yet but speculation is already rife about their upbringing – what path will Meghan and Harry take in rearing the seventh in line to the throne?

Not an indulgent one it would seem as The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reportedly said they will not ‘spoil’ their child.

The royal couple – who married in May last year – will welcome their first child and are determined to raise the tot to appreciate values like hard work regardless of their royal status.

Living a normal life

“[Meghan wants to] bring up children who know the values of normal things in life,” royal contributor Omid Scobie told Us Weekly magazine. “Meghan will take her kids on a subway.

“They’ll have chores, and jobs one day. They won’t be spoiled.”

Omid’s claims come after an insider previously stated that Harry, and Meghan would be aiming to give their child as normal a life as possible, despite the inevitable interest of the public.

The source said: “That word ‘normal’ looms very large for Harry and Meghan when it comes to their child’s future.”

No fancy titles

They may be two of the most prestigious members of the royal family, but Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s new baby won’t have a prince or princess title, which will surely help the new parents give their child a ‘normal’ upbringing.

The brand new royal will likely not be referred to as ‘His or Her Royal Highness (HRH)’, nor will they be called ‘prince’ or ‘princess’ like cousins George, Charlotte and Louis.

Titles are limited within the royal family so prince and princess titles and the HRH status are reserved for children or grandchildren of the Monarch. Prince George was the exception as his father, Prince William is in line to be king, and his siblings were granted the titles under an exception.

Given Prince Harry was gifted a Dukedom on his wedding day and he and Meghan are now known as Duke and Duchess of Sussex, their children will likely be given lord, earl or lady titles.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s pregnancy announcement

Five months after tying the knot and just hours after they arrived in Australia last, we heard the first buzz around the new royal when mum and dad announced the pregnancy.

“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019,” the palace said in statement on Twitter.

“Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public.”
