The term ‘time-poor’ is the millennial buzzword of the moment. When did we become so busy that we cannot text back or pick up the phone when it rings (yes, people still use mobile phones to call each other, who would have thunk?)

There’s just not enough hours in the day to meet work deadlines, drink enough water, maintain an acceptable social life, watch Game of Thrones, look good on social media AND eat healthily. Geez.

Which is why I’m stoked to discover the newest food delivery option on the block: Youfoodz Meal Kitz These babies are ready in 15 minutes so you’re basically Jamie Oliver without the fancy food processor.

It’s the lazy girl’s dream because everything is pre-chopped and ready to pile into a pan. Zero prep time means more time for Netflix and there’s minimal washing up. Cheering.

I usually spend one hour every week night faffing about in the kitchen, chopping, grating, cooking and cleaning but with Meal Kitz, I can save up to 45 minutes a night which is three hours and 45 minutes a week!

Think of all of the things you could do with a spare four hours a week. More walks for my pug, watch two feature-length films, three different catch-ups with friends, maybe even… some exercise? This is a game changer.

Personally, I struggle with discipline around food, and I have (or had) a filthy addiction to * gasp * delivered takeaways. Which is fine in moderation but I’m talking, like, six times a week, delivered to my couch. Oink!

Youfoodz chefs have created six new Meal Kitz, all dietitian-approved and the food stays fresh in your fridge ’til you’re ready to cook. This has drastically reduced my grocery waste at the end of the week.

Flavours like beef fajitas, Thai chicken curry and greek lamb salad with pita got me pretty excited. I started with the beef fajitas and me being the skeptic I am, I timed myself.

It took four minutes to brown the meat in the pan and another four to cook the veggies. The rice, corn and beans were ready in another two minutes and my wraps only took 20 seconds in the microwave. By the time I plated everything up, I was under the 10 minute mark and feeling beyond smug.

The Meal Kitz serve two people although I was worried my defensive eating skills would have to kick in when sharing the fajitas with my over-eater boyfriend (I usually end up with less than my share when we share food.) But I got to keep my snide comments to myself when he was more than full after finishing his half and he didn’t even attempt to pinch my food! Youfoodz, you’ve worked a miracle.

My lazy side (all of me) was super happy with how easy this process was. The Meal Kitz box unfolds to show the six-step method on the inside, minimalising the use of paper which is a nice touch.
