Feisty X Factor judge Mel B has lashed out at rumours the show is fixed, ahead of tonight’s grand finale between The Collective, Samantha Jade and Jason Owen.

Talking exclusively to New Idea about the outrageous claims, the outspoken judge leapt to the hit show’s defence.

"It can’t be rigged, legally it can’t be. That’s completely out of the question," she thundered.

But she does confess to a longstanding belief that the outcome is likely to favour Ronan Keating’s popular boy band.

"I must admit though, I’ve said from the beginning that The Collective is gonna win but you really just never know."

As for that other lingering controversy surrounding the hit show – the perceived bad blood between Mel and fellow judge Natalie Bassingthwaighte – the former Spice Girl insists talk of a bitter feud is all just hot air.

Although she does admit that the pair’s musical tastes are very different, and she finds herself disagreeing with Nat on air more often than not.

"Look, I was called Scary for a reason," she tells New Idea. "It’s my personality to be honest and say what I think."

But pressed further, Mel admits the pair’s barbed on air banter continued at a private party she and husband Stephen Belafonte recently hosted for the X Factor team.

When Nat turned up late after having trouble getting her baby off to sleep, hostess Mel had some things to say when she finally arrived.

See this week’s issue of New Idea – out now – for Mel’s full interview, and all the details of that awkward moment.

Anyone with real talent does not need to go on a talent show. It's just glorified karaoke.

Of course it is rigged. It was stated right at the outset that their brief was to find a "One Direction" look alike even if they had to make it up from individual boy singers. Anything to do with Simon Cowel is rigged.

I reckon that boy band was in the pipeline before the show even started!! They are groomed to within an inch of their lives, and well polished already!! Impossible in such a short time!! The Kiwi boys were better than them - more talented and better style :P

Has anybody realised that it is slanted towards the Eastern states contestants. Reason. The show airs 3 hours before WA, Due to the time difference and daylight saving, and the voting opens during the aired program. The voting closes at 12 pm EST IE 9 am WA time. That gives the Eastern States 3 more hours of legal voting time. Now who says it ain't rigged. C'mon WA good luck Samantha Jade.

Actually my greatest betch about this and other programmes like it, there is NO alternative given to those who do not have SMS, facebook or twitter! Now how's that for an intelligent show who regularly says "if you want keep ABC in, then you have to vote" How can I and many like me if you don't make any provision for it! Yahoo7 can do a poll on its front page, looks simple enough, then do the same for all the shows on TV that require participation from the public. How darn hard can it be?
