The late Princess of Wales and mother to sons Princes William, 32, and Harry, 30, passed away at the age of 36 after a tragic car crash in 1997, but her final wishes have finally been made public.

Diana left close to $40 million to her sons, which they received on their 30th birthdays, according to the Today show. Harry also inherited his mother's wedding dress while William was granted her famous engagement ring, which wife Kate Middleton now wears.

She also appointed her mother, Francs Shand Kydd, in charge of her boys' education in the event of her death.

Robert Jobson, author of The New Royal Family told the Today show: "She wanted to make sure [her children] were showered with love. That's something she really agonised over when she split from Prince Charles. I think this will reflects that."

Princess Diana and Prince Charles divorced in August 1996, following his alleged affair with Camilla Parker-Bowles.
