Queen Elizabeth II has become a great-grandmother for the first time - and she's "delighted" with the baby news.

The British monarch's grandson Peter Phillips - the son of the Queen's daughter, Anne, Princess Royal and Mark Phillips - and his wife Autumn welcomed their first child, a girl, at a hospital in Gloucestershire, south west England on Wednesday UK time.

The birth was announced on overnight and a spokesman for Buckingham Palace said the Queen and her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh are overjoyed at the addition to the family.

A statement reads, "The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips and Autumn's family have been informed and are delighted with the news."

The baby weighed in at eight pounds, eight ounces (3.9 kilograms) and her name has not yet been confirmed. She becomes 12th in line to the British throne.

Sloppy journalism indeed. You couldn't mistake Peter Phillips for his grandfather - but the caption has Prince Philip getting married to Autumn in May 2008.

The baby is a GIRL - so the headline is wrong. Sloppy!
