SPECIAL ISSUE: WILLS AND KATE – YES, WE’RE HAVING A BABY

Three weeks ago, New Idea scooped the world with the exclusive news that Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, and her husband Prince William are expecting their first child. Now, following the Palace’s official confirmation, New Idea presents a special commemorative issue – on sale from Friday across most of the Eastern seaboard and the rest of Australia from Monday – revealing all the drama and joy in 12 pages of beautiful photos and interviews. Only New Idea has the full inside story on the royal pregnancy, including an exclusive new interview with the duchess’ oldest friend Jessica Hay. She reveals fascinating new details of the story that has captivated the world, from an insider perspective. New Idea also draws on its access to Britain’s finest royal reporters, including Ingrid Seward (editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine for more than 20 years) and highly respected royal journalist Phil Dampier.

WELCOME TO THE FAMILY: ROYAL AUTHOR ROBERT JOBSON REVEALS TO NEW IDEA WHAT AWAITS THE NEW HEIR

Prince William and Kate’s first child will be born into a world of vast wealth, ancient ancestry, palaces and royal titles. For the first time in history, their new baby is set to become sovereign regardless of whether it’s a boy or girl. It will also be the first for 300 years – since the reigns of Anne and Mary II – to have a commoner mother. Now William and Kate will spearhead the new-look House of Windsor – and their baby will be the first truly modern monarch, descended from working-class coal miners as well as kings. And William and Kate are ‘absolutely determined’ to raise the baby their own way…

BONDI RESCUE WEDDING: OUR BIG DAY

The first day of summer was a fitting occasion for Bondi Rescue favourite Anthony ‘Harries’ Carroll to marry his dream girl Emily Jordan. On a clifftop overlooking Sydney’s Clovelly beach, Harries’ grin was as bright as a Bondi summer’s day as he watched his bride make her way down the aisle to Able to Fly’s Love Note. Escorted by her parents David and Erica, birthday girl Emily was glowing as she got the best 29th birthday present she could have wished for – a husband. ‘I saw Em get out of the car and she was a 2000 out of 10,’ says Harries, who was supported by best man Robbie Stewart, his twin Sean Carroll, nephew Brad Rope and Leon Hay.

KY HURST’S BABY BLISS: MY LITTLE IRONMAN

As an Olympian and one of Australia’s most prominent Ironmen, Ky Hurst has experienced the elation of winning, the devastation of losing and the thrill of riding massive waves. But no emotion could ever compare to the feeling of watching his firstborn son Koa Hurst enter the world on November 16. ‘He is definitely my biggest achievement,’ Ky says, smiling down at his little man, who is sleeping contentedly on his chest. When New Idea visits Ky, his fiancee Katie Lander and baby Koa on Queensland’s Gold Coast, it’s clear the first-time dad has taken to fatherhood like, well, an Ironman to water.
