After nearly 30 years together, 66-year-old actress 'Goldie Hawn still recalls the first time she met the love of her life, actor Kurt Russell', 61.
Hawn said in an interview with Desert Island Discs on Radio 4 that when the pair first met on the set of their 1968 film The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band when she was 21 and he was 16 years old.
Although she felt a strong attraction to the actor, she revealed: "I thought he was adorable but he was much too young."
Years later, in 1983, the pair met again on set of their film Swing Shift.
She explained: "We met up again and I liked him and I remembered that I liked him very much when I first met him.
"But we both said we would never go out with another actor so it just shows you never can tell."
Hawn, who already had children Oliver and Kate Hudson from her previous marriage to Bill Hudson, decided to follow her heart and the pair became a couple.
29 years later, the pair have famously never married but stay committed to each other. They also have a son together, 26-year-old Wyatt.
Hawn said of her relationship with Russell: "We’ve been together for 29 years now and I think if two people want to make it work, you make it work but if one doesn’t, then you’re sunk."
She added: "I don’t know if it’s been hard work, but that’s all I wanted out of life – a good relationship, a healthy family of mind and body and I feel very honoured that this happened. But you do have to put your time in."
