Queen Elizabeth to star in kids book

Britain's Queen Elizabeth has been transformed into a cartoon character for a new children's book to mark her 90th birthday.

The 89-year-old monarch - who turns 90 on April 21 - will star in The Birthday Crown, which has been written by David Cali and tells the story of the royal's search for the perfect crown to wear on her big day, which turns out to be one made of paper by her grandson.

The tome is to be published by the Royal Collection Trust and has been beautifully illustrated by Kate Slater.

Publisher Jacky Colliss Harvey said: 'We hope that children and adults alike will enjoy David Cali's charming story about a very special birthday, brought to life through Kate Slater's highly original collage illustrations.'
