Jilted bride Leah Shevlin has revealed that her former fiance Allan McGregor called off their wedding because he 'didn't believe in marriage'.

The 33-year-old beauty and lifestyle blogger found out that the Scottish footballer called off the wedding when she was sent an email from the venue about the cancellation.

'I got an email from my wedding planner and also the manager of the wedding venue to say he'd been in touch to cancel,' she said.

Fed up with rumours about her infidelity, Leah wrote a lengthy post to 'set the record straight' about why the wedding was called off.

'I've heard the rumours as to why my wedding seemingly didn't take place. I must say, I uncontrollably laughed at the suggestion I was unfaithful, I've never been unfaithful in my life and nor would I be, it's just not in my nature.

'There was no reason to suspect anything was wrong, he never said a word, no inkling what so ever that he was having second thoughts.

She explained that Allan attempted to bring up the cancellation of the wedding while on holiday in Dubai last June.

'We carried on with our holiday enjoying time with our daughter then all of a sudden, a few days in, he turned to me (bear in mind this is the first week in June and our wedding is planned for 20th June) and he says, "I can't get married." He didn't elaborate, that was it.

'I actually thought he was joking for a full 48 hours because he carried on as normal being my partner, in every sense of the word if you get me, I just thought he was drunk. Seriously.

'He had no explanation behind it, just that he was scared and couldn't go through with it because he didn't believe in marriage, he tried to convince me it was only a piece of paper and we didn't need it to be together.'

Leah, who shares a four-year-old daughter with Allan, said that they had spent 18 months planning the wedding, and that they lost thousands off dollars because of the wedding cancellation.

She also revealed that the ex Rangers player wanted to stay in a relationship with her despite calling off the wedding.

'He wanted to remain in a relationship with me and he questioned my thinking with regard to that. He said he didn’t want to get married and if he ever did want marriage it would never be with anyone other than me.'

'But I had already made my mind up not just for myself, but for the sake of my innocent daughter.

'We deserved for him to secure our family network and prove he was a committed, loving father and husband. But it wasn’t meant to be.'
